Depression et al
So much has happened since I last posted! Mostly I've been incredibly depressed. We still haven't managed to get the P45 from his ex-boss, who seems to work on the "out of sight, out of mind" principle. DB still hasn't managed to find another job, so he's getting disheartened and depressed and the kids are all on holiday! Well, eldest isn't on holiday, he got thrown out of college just before the holidays began and is still 'looking' for work. I know it's difficult to get a job, but once down to the careers office in six weeks, does not constitute actively looking in my book!!
Cathkin, not before time, is being redeveloped. When I met DB four years ago, it was to be done in the next three to five years, however all that has happened so far, is some of the closes have been demolished. We in the meantime live in a three-bedroom flat with five teenagers (well littlest isn't a teenager yet, but he's big and behaviour wise, worse!) When we went for our interview to find out when we will get our new house, it was to be told that as the place we are in is not going to be demolished, our need (Yeah, right) is not as urgent as others, so our house will be the last built and provided there are no more delays (building was meant to have commenced this autumn, but has been put off till February next year) we will move in August 2007.
We won't have far to move, as it's only around the corner from where we are now. If they stick to the plan we were given, then the house will be worth waiting for. I had also hoped that the thought of two more years in the same room as his brothers, would make the eldest carry out his constant threat of moving out. However, he's now planning how to decorate his room while still being a monumental pain in the butt! While the others are trying to sleep, he plays his 'music' or the TV at ear-splitting levels, but when he wants to go to sleep, then there must be total silence, so he either screams at (until they wake up) or punches the offender to stop the 'snoring' (actually heavy breathing, he snores worse than they do)
On top of that I have been diagnosed with angina, so now it's stop smoking, lose weight, swallow loads of pills etc. So far I've managed to lose half a stone (7lbs for those that don't use stones!) Surprisingly, I haven't found giving up smoking at all difficult. The doctor gave me NRT, but I'd given up using that within two weeks of stopping. However, losing weight and changing my diet is another story. So much of what I like and previously ate when on diet, are now a no-no on a low cholesterol diet. I heard a brilliant description of skimmed milk on TV the other night. "That's not milk, it's water with an udder waved over it!" An opinion I heartily support!!!!!!
I haven't done much embroidery this summer. I've not been very motivated, half-heartedly starting a few things, but not achieving very much. Last weekend, I got inspired and in the course of the evening, created an abstract.
It's worked on silkpaper, which is surprisingly easy to embroider on.
It's been a relatively lovely summer, so I've been going for ambles in the hope that the increased exercise, no matter how light, will help with the weightloss. Seems to be working!
Schools go back on Tuesday, maybe life'll get back to 'normal' then.
