Jawellnofine
It's been a while since my last post and it's been a very unsettling time. I did manage to give up smoking very quickly and easily, which was a surprise. I can't take appetite suppressants because of my blood pressure, angina etc, so I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to lose weight on my own.
On Wednesday I had the angiogram, which I was honestly dreading! They give you a long list of things that could go wrong and it put the fear of God into me, I only started to calm down once I was on the ward and the others there were talking in multiples! Unfortunately it was not good news, I have severe blockages in two of the arteries and have now been referred to the surgeon, who will not be happy to operate because of my weight and the doctor who did the angiogram is not happy about doing it with angioplasty. I'll find out more when I see him on 5th October.
I'd started working on a sunbird and fuchsias (adapting the one that is in Classic Inspirations Issue 36) The embroidery for the sunbird is mostly finished, it's all the little fiddly bits for the fuchsias to do now, but found over this last week that I couldn't settle to embroidery.
So I got DB to haul a box of patchwork material out of the loft and I sat down and made myself a Trip Around the World quilt top. After leaving the hospital we went to the LNS and I got some rather nice alpaca and cotton wadding, which is far, far nicer to work with than the polyester batting that I've always used before. It's a lot more expensive, but it's two metres wide, so there was no need to join it, which was always a pain before! I had a couple of flannelette sheets in the cupboard that have never been used, so that's the backing and I spent last night putting it all together. I intend to hand quilt it, so it'll be nice to snuggle under this winter while I do so!
I've been planning to visit my cousin and daughters for a while now, but it's all been put on hold till I heard when I was going to have the angiogram. Now next week I'll (hopefully) be able to finalize my plans.
